• Wildflower Century Ride -

•Saturday’s Ride 01/03/09:
Let's ride from Akman at 8am, south out El Camino (with the loop by Grandpa's pond) to Santa Margarita, then left on 58, to 229 where we take a left and head up and then down into Creston (20 mi.) It may be a bit early to officially "stop" so we might simply regroup at the store and then head out to 41, left on Creston Rd. and then ride Creston Rd. to Geneseo where we proceed through the Colamarino/Zappas trench to Linne to Niblick. Continue down Niblick to the Cider Creek Bakery (on the left at River) for the official stop (34 ish?) After something hot to drink we will leave on Niblick, cross the bridge and go straight to Vine the right to left up Peachy and down to left on Willow to left on Las Tablas or on to Vineyard...rider's choice and then home.

Last Saturday’s Ride:
The Holidays and cold weather seemed to have taken it's toll as only five riders left Kman at the brisk hour of 8:10 am. Terry, Steve R. and Louise welcomed Erin (thankfully on the mend after some serious medical issues) back in the saddle as well as another fixed gear rider Craig/Greg. As the group headed out to Templeton road, Vineyard and beyond the group size was fluid as we were joined by Kurt and Mark G. only to lose Craig, then Erin (up Adelaida on the way out). After a beautiful ride on Cypress Mountain/Klaus Mine where Lance joined the group we lost Steve R., Mark and Kurt who headed home to family on Vineyard so Lance, Louise and Terry headed into Paso for a repast at the new Cider Creek Bakery at Niblick and River (next to KCF)...and they thought they were rid of us bikers leaning our bikes against their benches and vegetation! Actually, the coffee, food and fireplace were very welcoming!! Terry provided most of the excitement by all his quick clothing changes...the more clothes he took off the more he seemed to be wearing...and he taught us all a lesson about being careful to make sure that your wheel is positioned fully in the drop out so that the brake shoe does not rub the tire as the rubbing will cause a sidewall blow out...Terry also taught us that a dollar bill can work well as a boot for a sidewall cut...It is wonderful when someone else lives and the
rest of us can learn!!!

Run:

•The Sunday Run - Meet at the park at the corner of Las Tablas and Bethel, in Templeton. 8:30 start time. It will be our last long run before next week's Castle-to-Coast run. Run, jog, walk or mountain bike.

Last Sunday - Last Sunday the long run was 8 miles, covering part of the Wine Country half-marathon. Even though the temperatures were 35 at the start, it warmed up and was a beautiful day.
