Bike:
•Ride: Saturday, 02/28/90 - Let's do the Pozo/Parkhill loop...We'll leave Atascadero Kman at 8 am and head south down El Camino, taking our usual detour and then back to El Camino to Santa Margarita to Pozo road, up the Rinconada climb and on to the firestation at Pozo(27 miles) where water will be available at the firestation. Then we continue on around and up to Las Pilitas/HueroHuero intersection (39miles) where folks can choose to head down Las Pilitas and back to town (19 miles) or go down HueroHuero to 58 (5 miles), right (1 1/2 miles) to O'donovan and left into the Creston store (50 miles) for the first refreshment stop of the day. Then we can ride home up 229 or 41 or Creston to Cripple creek as the group sees fit. Remember to bring food and drink for the first 50 miles.
•Last Saturday’s Ride: The excitement and inspiration of having the Tour in our own backyard carried over to the Saturday ride as 10 riders hit the roads that were dry for a change. The route out to end of Chimney Rock, Cypress Mountain and Adelaida to the Cider Creek Bakery allowed for hard efforts, congenial conversation and beautiful springtime views of the green hills and flowing creeks. Len provided extensive counsel to a couple we met on the road who were staying at the Justin Winery for the weekend and were out for a day ride in the area. And the comfortable chairs at Cider Creek encouraged the leisurely discussion of everyone's Tour experiences: most particularly how Kurt became quite irritated by the speedo wearing fans and the big haired Elvis at the top of Ballard canyon who ran after each rider and Terry hit a car(with body and bike) as it turned right into a parking space as he was riding back to Paso after viewing the riders coming into town (and committing a personal injury no, no per Len, Terry hugged and forgave the older woman who was driving the vehicle once he saw that his bicycle and wheel weren't damaged seriously). The ride home on River Road finished off a 70ish mile day.
