OOPS!  Next Team Social CHANGED TO

August 22 - Be there!

************************

AnnouncementLast week Louise Comar completed the Rush Randonnée, which started and ended in Davis. It was a 750-mile ride, which Louise somehow did in about 76 hours. Her target time was 80 hours; so she bettered her goal by a substantial amount. It was a pretty amazing feat. Bravissima, Louise!

•Mark & Jennifer report lots of good cycling in Zion, Bryce, Glenwood Springs, and Estes Park. CO. One memorable ride for Mark was the ride from Estes Park, CO to the top of the highest continuous road in the U.S. 12,000 ft.

Swim News – It is still so beautiful in the mornings here in the North County.  What a great place to live!!!  Come swim early before it warms up and you are playing at something else.

Bike News - Saturday's ride:  Let's ride somewhere a little different!   Meet at Morro Bay High School at 8 am for a ride in the cool coastal climate...let's ride  north on Highway 1 through Cayucos all the way to Cambria for coffee, then backtrack to Highway 46, up 46 to Old Creek where we will turn right down to Cayucos and back to Morro Bay...Possible post-ride meal in Cayucos.

See you on Saturday.

As noted by Team K-Man member Len Colamarino...

On Saturday, July 25, there will be a special bike ride along the coast to commemorate the recent accomplishments of our esteemed riding companion, Louise Comar. A couple of weeks ago, Louise completed the grueling 2009 California brevet series of endurance bike rides with the crowning achievement of finishing the 1200 km (750 mile) Gold Rush Randonnée. And not only did she finish, but she did so in about 76 hours, almost four hours within her target time of 80 hours.

Join us in saying Bravissima! to Louise for this feat by participating in this commemorative ride and the lunch that will follow it.

Here are the plans for the occasion:

There will be three ride options, depending on whether you want to go about 90, 78 or 46 miles.

The 90-mile riders should plan to depart at 8:00 am from the parking lot of Morro Bay High School, located on the northwest side of the intersection of Highways 1 and 41. They will start riding north on Highway 1.

The 78-mile riders should be at the Cayucos Pier at 8:30, prepared to join the Morro Bay contingent as they pass through on their way north. Though parking should be available near the Pier, leave a little time to find a parking space if you will be driving to the starting point in Cayucos.

The 46-mile riders should be ready to get picked up at 9:30 at Shamel Park (Windsor Blvd.) in Cambria.

The full complement of riders will then proceed north along Highway 1 to Ragged Point, where there will be a regrouping and refreshment stop.

The ride will then head back down Highway 1 to Cayucos, where there will be a festive lunch at the Old Cayucos Bakery & Deli, located at 84 North Ocean Ave. (phone 805-995-0800). In terms of the timing of lunch, it is expected that the riders will start coming in around 1:00 and that all should arrive by 2:00.

See you on Saturday.

Len

Run Sunday – Sunday is the San Luis Triathlon.  Come run and watch, and cheer on Team-Man members starting at 7 am.  There will be a run starting at 7:15 am starting at Sinshimer Park.  Look for Robyn Schmidt and run while you cheer.
