SWIM -Member News
We have at least two team members temporarily out of action...Lori Bickel had knee surgery that will hopefully allow her to train for the Big Sur Half Marathon and other things and Mike Zappas had an unintended meeting of the mind(s). Mike had surgery on his fractured wrist and will be back in the pool and on the bike as soon as allowed. Both are in good sprits and healing well.
Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers!

Steve LaChaine finished the HooDoo 500! Great job Steve! Check out the results at this link http://www.planetultra.com/Hoodoo500/2010Webcast/index.htm Steve is in the Solo "Racers Voyager Division"
What an awesome group! Not only do the coaches stand on deck and enthusiastically encourage the swimmers to do their best to reach challenging goals but they also call with concern and accountability when you are unable to make it to swim.
If you ever thought about joining the group and had concerns...don't! It is awesome!
BIKE -
Saturday September 4 - This Saturday’s Team K-Man ride will go from Ragged Point, north on Highway 1, to Nacimiento-Ferguson Road, then up the eight mile climb there to the summit. We will then go back the same way we came, and have lunch at the Ragged Point Inn.
Departure from Ragged Point will be at 9:00 am, which should give everyone time to ride or drive to the start. The ride is about 55 miles, with almost 5000 feet of climbing. All should bring something to eat along the way. Unless a sag driver comes forward and volunteers to meet us along the route, the best refueling stop will be at the store in Gorda, which is about ten miles south of N-F Road.
It promises to be a challenging and memorable ride.

If you can't make it to the Ragged Point ride join others at the Atascadero Zoo (actually the War Memorial) parking lot at 7:30 am for a local ride.

The Big Sur (Monterey) half marathon is coming up in November (14th to be exact). Would anyone, training for this event, like to meet for "track/pacing" workouts some time? A week night? A weekend day? Please let me know and we can set this up....runninrobyn@gmail.com
This Sunday the half marathon group and any other team members will meet at Santa Rita Road just past the bridge to run out and back the distance of your choice. 8:00 am

Join the K-Fun - Shaver Lake Triathlon is Sunday, September 19th, This will be a fun event for Team members participating in either the Triathlon, the K-Cheer Squad, or simply the Mountain relaxation. There is a traditional Olympic Course and a Sprint Course. The event is in a beautiful venue. There is a sign up page on Active.com but the event website is a bad link as of this writing. If you are planning on participating in this fun weekend let mglenesk@charter.net know because we are working on some VERY reasonable accommodations for Saturday and Sunday night.
