Congratulations to Steve LaMachine LaChaine for his great ride at the Hoodoo 500! Read his ride report (pdf) (attached in the newsletter email).

I am sorry to report that we have had a "rash" of cycling mishaps the past few weeks. Mike Zappas went down after colliding with a motor vehicle, breaking his wrist. Glenn Vanderlinde and Sue Haas-Clarke collided on their bikes on Labor day. Sue was knocked unconscious and suffered road rash and a nasty cut to the back of her head. Sue is recovering and hopes to be back on the bike soon. Glenn unfortunately fractured his pelvis and so will be out of the Senior Games and commision for a while. Best Team Kman wishes to Mike, Sue and Glenn for a quick recovery. And Team Kman wishes to everyone else to keep the rubber side down!

SWIM -

Monday was a bit of a (excuse the language) crap shoot with the pool opening time changing in the night. We still had a good group of GIRLS!!! Penny, Jennifer, Peggy and Zoe Zappas, Robyn, Janeil and Hannah Tillman. BRING IT ON GIRLS!

BIKE -

I understand the ride from Ragged Point last weekend was beautiful and challenging. I'm proud of my sister for doing it, you stud-et Christie!!! There were a few other groups out and about on Saturday. Some of them crossed paths here and there.

Saturday September 11 - Ride Geneseo, Union, 46, and Estrella to San Miguel. Leaving Kman at 8am, we will head out left on El Camino, to right on Curbaril, left on Santa Ysabel, right on 41, left on Templeton, right on Lupine, right on El Pomar , left on Cripple Creek, right on Creston to left on Geneseo on which we will stay right all the way to right on Union to 46. Then we go right on 46 and carefully left on Estrella. At that point we have a choice of goingshort by taking a left on Jardine to right on Tower to Airport and home, going long by continuing right on Hog Canyon and around to Ranchita Canyon to Cross Canyon to San Miguel for burritos or going medium by proceeding straight on Estrella to San Miguel for burritos. The return ride can be either by River road or for a longer ride, by way of Cross Canyon, Hog Canyon and Jardine to Tower to Airport to 46 to Golden Hills.

RUN -

Last Sunday the half marathon group met at Santa Rita Road for an out and back run. The K-kids came along on their bikes while K-Man, Robyn, Jennifer and Mark Glenesk did their run. It was another beautiful day in paradise on the Central Coast. See Photo above.

This weekend the group run will start at the Staples Parking lot in Atascadero. We can run on the trails behind Staples (out and back) or a loop on the roads. Let's start at 8:00 am. I will map out 4, 6, and 8 miles runs. Join us to run or walk.

Join the K-Fun - Shaver Lake Triathlon is Sunday, September 19th, This will be a fun event for Team members participating in either the Triathlon, the K-Cheer Squad, or simply the Mountain relaxation. There is a traditional Olympic Course and a Sprint Course. The event is in a beautiful venue. There is a sign up page on Active.com but the event website is a bad link as of this writing. If you are planning on participating in this fun weekend letmglenesk@charter.net know because we are working on some VERY reasonable accommodations for Saturday and Sunday night.
