Doug Hicks rode in the Homegrown cyclocross at Woodward Park in Clovis on the
16th. They are hosted by CCORC. Doug did
both the b class (45 min) and c class (30 min) races. He had a great time and the events are well run. There are two more races that Doug hopes to go to. See pictures of Doug in the sidebar slide show.

Kristie Lahr ran in the San Antonio Rock and Roll Marathon/Half-Marathon - a great event. Kristie reports that "SA was beautiful, fun and a great vacation destination. The run made history as the biggest inaugural race in the U.S. It was a great race, well organized, great bands, and plenty of them, crowd support the whole way and excellent running temps (40 F. at the start). My favorite was running past the Alamo at 2.5 miles and of course the finish!" Kristie's time was 1:41(Half-marathon), which placed her 126th woman out of 11,389 and 5th in her age group, out of 1300. I met a few Team in Training runners from the San Luis Obispo area also doing the half.

Bike:

Saturday’s Ride 11/22/08:
Let's head to the coast. Leaving Kman at 8 am we will ride to 41, Templeton Road to El Pomar, straight to Vineyard to 46. Turn left on 46 and head toward the coast. Ride the York Mountain loop (or not) and rejoin 46 to Old Creek (23 MIles). Some riders can chose to just continue on 46 to the top and then turn around and head home (approx. 50 miles). Those wishing to ride further can turn left on Old Creek and continue to Cayucos for our first break (35 ish miles). Then we will head to Hwy 1 and ride north to 46 or for a longer ride on into Cambria and/or beyond. Then grab some refreshments at either a mini mart or coffee shop and head to 46 and up the hill to Cider Creek (85 miles) then home . The route is subject to group approval, as always. See Map 16.

Last Saturday’s Ride:
You got to love Atascadero and it's 40 degree temperature shifts...some had faith and wore scant clothing from the start (Eddy, whom it was good to see), others had a fanny pack to carry the cold weather clothing later in the day (Terry) and the rest just stuffed all in jersey pockets... ten riders cruised Vineyard, Willow, Adelaida to Chimney Rock and San Miguel...the coffee shop was bike central as the Kman group met up with several other riders...the group split for the ride home with some heading out Cross Canyon to Pleasant etc...both groups, however, encountered the gulagesque construction fences on River Road...all made it through but with a little more dirt than usual to clean off the bike...

Run:

This Sunday -
8:30 am The Sunday run will meet at the park (Bethel and Vineyard) to do a variety of mileage and perhaps coffee afterwards if anyone wants to reward themselves. 8:30 start time.

Wednesday night track workouts will be put on hold for the time being. We will start back up in January or February when we are all gearing up for spring races.
