-->Bike:

•Saturday Ride(5/02) - For those competing in the Wildflower tri this weekend...GOOD LUCK! We'll be wishing you a cool tailwind up Mother Hill!!!
For those not going to the Lake, let's do the Pozo/Parkhill loop...We'll leave Atascadero Kman at 8 am and head south down El Camino, taking our usual detour by Paloma Park and Grandpa's Pond and then back to left on El Camino to Santa Margarita to Pozo road, up the Rinconada climb and on to the firestation at Pozo(27 miles) where water will be available at the firestation. Then we continue on around and up to Las Pilitas/HueroHuero intersection (39miles) where folks can choose to head down Las Pilitas and back to town (58 miles total), or continue on Parkhill to 58 and home (58 miles total) or go down HueroHuero to 58 (5 miles), right (1 1/2 miles) to O'donovan and left into the Creston store (50 miles) for the first refreshment stop of the day. Then we can ride home up 229 or 41 or Creston to Cripple creek as the group sees fit. Remember to bring food and drink for the first 50 miles.

Last Saturday - The few riders who showed to ride the Kman ride treated to the quiet, green, lupine scent filled meadows and hills of Adelaida, Chimney Rock and Cypress/Klaus Mine roads. Kman and Mike B. joined Terry, Steve R., Louise and Mark G. in this mellow "Cookie" ride (as Mark G. described). At Adelaida and Klaus mine we ran into a small group of SLO riders, including Casey R and Eric Benson, who had ridden up from Cayucos on the dirt of Santa Rita road and were going to return by riding up and down the dirt of Klaus mine to Santa Rosa Creek...on their road bikes!!! Interesting idea...we might have to check those roads out?!?

•Wine 'N Bike - 05/09 - 1st annual Kman Wine and Bike coming up on Saturday, May 9th. We'll celebrate the Wildflower, the Big Sur Relay and anything else you can think of. The ride will start at the parking lot, next to the new Templeton Dog Park, on Vineyard at 1pm. Any bike will do as this is a social event and will be a relaxing ride to several vineyards for wine tasting. Please invite friends, family, and fellow k-members.

•Who got a 26:43 last week? Las Pilitas Climb - Time Trial spreadsheet - check it out!!

Kman reports - John McKewen, founder of the Nitty Gritty Dirtband, is going to perform June 6th at Castoro Cellers Winery. You do not want to miss it, he is incredible. He plays the banjo like Mr. Phelps swims, like Mr. Armstrong rides, like Mr. Bolt runs, actually he does it better than any of them! This will be a once in a lifetime show. It is a fund raiser for Escuela Del Rio, an adult facility for the mentally challenged. Our team has already raised $2000.00 for the event. I suggest that this event be part of the 5 or better challenge for 2009. Tickets can be purchased for $30 at Castoro Cellers web site or at K-Man Cycle and Run. Let's make it a night to be remembered!
