-->Bike:

•Saturday Ride(5/09) - Let's ride to the coast! Leave Kman at 8 am and head left on El Camino to right on Curbaril, left on Santa Ysabel to right on 41, to left on Templeton Road, to…left on Templeton Road which then becomes Vineyard and continue straight until left on 46 and ride to York Mt (ride the climb or stay on 46), continue on 46 to left on Old Creek and ride down to Cayucos where we will stop for a break at the coffee shop (O’Neal’s) then ride north to Cambria for a second stop and then backtrack for the climb up 46 and home. The ride can be shortened by riding to the top of 46 and back to the shop or riding to the top of the downhill on Old Creek and back to the shop, or riding directly up 46 from the Coast (eliminating a stop in Cambria). Louise will NOT be on the ride as she and Lachaine will be enjoying ALOT of scenery around the Santa Cruz area both Saturday and Sunday, so the Crowd Rules!!

Last Saturday - A small but select group showed at the cloudy start of what was to be a fabulous day for a ride. Kurt, Terry, Rob, Mike J., Ed G. and Louise rolled from Kman over damp pavement and under threatening skies and headed out to Pozo, Parkhill and beyond. The only "cookie" on the ride was the "cookie dough" in Louise's Balance bar and in the Oatmeal cookie that Louise and Terry shared at the Creston store. The frequent regrouping, however, let Louise share the camaraderie.

Kman reports - John McKewen, founder of the Nitty Gritty Dirtband, is going to perform June 6th at Castoro Cellers Winery. You do not want to miss it, he is incredible. He plays the banjo like Mr. Phelps swims, like Mr. Armstrong rides, like Mr. Bolt runs, actually he does it better than any of them! This will be a once in a lifetime show. It is a fund raiser for Escuela Del Rio, an adult facility for the mentally challenged. Our team has already raised $2000.00 for the event. I suggest that this event be part of the 5 or better challenge for 2009. Tickets can be purchased for $30 at Castoro Cellers web site or at K-Man Cycle and Run. Let's make it a night to be remembered!
