Team Social Meeting
The meeting last Saturday was great. The PHantastic Italy and West Coast Tour trip show was postponed till next meeting. Mark and Jennifer gave a short "show" on the logistics and pleasures of team trips. In addition, Len gave a short yet splendid oratorical preview of the Italy Trip. It was especially wonderful to see Doug Conner doing so well !! See you ALL at our next team social.

•Saturday Wish Terry Well Ride(10/24) -Saturday's Ride: This is your last chance to "get beat" by Terry (for awhile)...and to wish him good luck on his upcoming back surgery! Let's ride to San Miguel and home again. Leaving Kman at 8am, let's go left on El Camino to right on Palomar to right on Curbaril and curl around to left on Mercedes to left on 41 to left on Templeton Rd to Right on Lupine to Right on El Pomar to left on Hollyhock to Right on River Rd and ride, ride, ride to San Miguel to the coffee shop for snacks...Returns abound with the recommendation being Cross Canyon to Pleasant to Estrella to Airport to Buena Vista to River and home.
LaChaine Solvang Double Report - "Always a Good Read"
My second Solvang Autum Double finish.
October 17th, 200 miles of fun, except for miles 90 to 120, heat + Perfumo Canyon cost me a podium position. Off the front with 2 other guys, got dropped on Hwy 166 mile 65, then rode solo for 135 miles, probably not the smartest move. Eventually got past by a pack of hungry riders like 7 of them, but they split up and I picked them off one by one, except for Goggins who I could not catch after my slow Perfumo climb. I don't know how many minutes he beat me by but I was happy with 4th place, same as last year, and time 11:42, 4 minutes slower than last year, but it was way hotter this year even by the beach. My dinner the night before was Carls Jr, 2 Southwest chicken sandwiches and a vanilla malt. I had no breakfast before the ride, just an FRS drink. Ride fuel was Sustained Energy and NUUN tabs, 1 banana, 2 cookies, and 4 vanilla gels, and a few squirts of hammer gel mixed with the Sustained Energy in the last 55 miles of the ride, half of turkey sandwich at lunch stop, and 2 diet Pepsi's. 12 bottles 22oz each + Pepsi = 288 oz consumed during the ride. Total calories consumed was about 4000 cal. Weather was mid 80s for most of the day. Pretty dehydrated at the finish, had to drink 64oz in an hour to feel good again, but only 1 foot cramp when I was putting my pants back on. No flat tires.

Sunday, November 1, 2009, 8:00am meet at Santa Rita and Ridge Road in Templeton for the Annual Templeton to Cayucos Run -Attached is information about this casual, friendly run from Templeton to Cayucos which has been going on for years. Occasionally it becomes a fundraiser-like this year. This year's fundraiser is sponsored by Annie Mooney and all proceeds benefits the Chandler Sky Foundation and an orphanage in Peru, Casa de Milagros. Read all about the run at this link. K-Man Cycle & Run will put support out on the course and participants pull together to pick each other up and shuttle each other back to the start.
Whether you would like to participate in the fundraiser(donation of choice at start) or not come join us in the run. It is beautiful and very good company! Please pass on the information to any runners, walkers or cyclists who might want to join us. (It is a nice road to ride a mountain bike on too!)
