Mark G reports, "Mike, Peggy, Mark, and Jen enjoyed a great workout with the UC Santa Cruz masters swim team last Saturday. The water was real nice!" (pic of UC pool at right.)
Steve LaChaine reports. Below is a report from Steve Lachaine about his and Mike Lewis' experience at the Mulholland Challenge, the first in the King of the Mountains triple century series. It was over 100 miles with over 12,000 feet of climbing.
Steve says, "Yo, I did the ride today in 7:58, I made the goal of 8 so I'm happy with that. it never got hot so that helped. Avg speed for 117 miles was 15.4 (or 14.7mph for total time)
Ride time = 7:37
Total time = 7:58
I might get a 15 minute penalty for a missing sticker, there were 6 sticker stops and I was too busy socializing at the 3rd checkpoint when I was filling water bottles and rode away without my sticker for that stop. Mike Lewis added about 40 minutes to his ride with 11 extra miles when he went off course with some other guys. He was probably 10 minutes ahead of me when he went off course around mile 80. Now his name is Wrong Way Lewis for the rest of the year." Steve
