CONTEST: Find the highlighted letters in this newsletter and unscramble them to make a word that will be the prize for figuring it out. Email your response to runninrobyn@gmail.com. The first 5 to respond will receive the prize.
SWIM: Are you all on vacation already? What’s up with K-Man sleeping in? Guess who’s going to join swim this summer?
BIKE: Meet at 8:00 a.m. at K-Man Cycle and Run. Go right on El Camino Real, bear left onto Viejo Camino, turn left at Halcon, then left again after the bridge, onto Rocky Canyon Road. Turn right at Creston-Eureka Road, right again at Highway 41. Then turn left at Homestead. From there we will go righton South El Pomar, up the Chicago Grade. We will follow South El Pomar to the Pomar Junction, turn right on El Pomar, then left on Cripple Creek. From there it is right on Creston Road, right on Highway 41 and left on Highway 229 into Creston for a regrouping and burrito stop. From there the ride will head east on O’Donovan out to the end at Highway 58, where there will be a right turn. From there, the options abound. For those looking for a long ride approaching century distance, you can go up Huer Huero (or, better yet, Park Hill Road) and do the Pozo Loop in a clockwise direction. An intermediate option is to go up Huer Huero and down either Las Pilitas or Park Hill on the way back to Atascadero. The most direct way back—which should make for about a 50 to 55 mile circuit—is just to stay on Highway 58 all the way to El Camino Real in Santa Margarita. In any event, at the intersection of Highway 58 and Huer Huero, you will be able to pick your particular pleasure.
RUN: Last Sunday was the hosted run on the West Cuesta Grade…
“As I watched the leaves flutter and calm with the recurring wind I breathed quietly knowing that the hurricane at home that behaves similar to these leaves (active then calm) would not be encountered up here along the Cuesta ridge. What a nice reprieve from a fast paced life and the heat we have been experiencing the past few days. Thank you for this day.”…K-Woman
This Sunday meet at Templeton Park at 8:30 am for a casual run/walk with friends.
*** If you were planning on running the Scorcher 5K in Templeton on June 19th it has been cancelled.***

All Comers Track Meets – Thank you Mike and Florence Aielo for doing the timing again this year. That is invaluable. Any other volunteers for the five Wednesday night track meets out there? If you can make it to one or all please let us know. The tasks are simple (Mike and Flo took the hard one). You get to make an athletic impression on young people and be a part of this wonderful athletic community that we participate in. The money raised to goes to the High School Athletic Foundation and helps with costs to maintain the all weather track at AHS.
Please contact Keith (kmanandrobyn@gmail.com) or Robyn (runninrobyn@gmail.com) if you can volunteer.
