Our guest speaker, Steve Martin, spoke about the history of Atascadero. The talk was just the right length and very interesting. We all appreciated his time and effort.
Tidbit News:
It looks as though team members, Seth and Cindy Gilbertson may be moving up to the Bay Area. We will miss them much, but look forward to their new news. Pam Nargie is looking forward to Wildflower this year! Gary Donath is enjoying some good times surfing. Skip P, Steve H, Mark G, Paul M, Erik S, Steve R, and ? are going to Levi's Grand Fondo, October 5th. Louise C will be doing the 508 on October 5th and 6th with Terry L, Sue H-C, and Kelly C crewing. Go Louise! Steve LaMachine is back on the bike and is riding strong. All the swimmers have been putting in extra workout meters in preparation for the UCLA swim meet on October 20th and the U.S. Nationals in May. The swimmers recently enjoyed a day of relays followed by a hot tub soak. Thanks Coach!

Volunteer and Have a Blast at Colony Days!! - Team Member, Steve Hodgson is looking for adult volunteers on October 19 from 8:30 to noon, to assist with the parade route and crowd control. group run starting at the Staples parking lot in Atascadero (by Home Depot). Routes will be either on
the De Anza trail or across the river/railroad tracks and into
Templeton. Distances from 3 miles to 10 miles. We can have coffee afterward at Starbucks! Hope to see you there!

Swim News - Link to Atascadero Swim Masters
We are in training for the UCLA short course meters swim meet on Sunday, October 20th!
There is an on-campus hotel called the Guest House at UCLA. It is TAX Free. ($160 for a double room and breakfast is not too bad for that area). Pair up, only $80. Let's show off our team spirit! This is a meet for all levels of masters' swimmers! (events are listed at the bottom of this entry)
Here is the Swim Meet Weekend Agenda
--Saturday morning leave Kennedy - carpool?
--Getty Museum(or other) ------ 12:00 - 4:00
--Dinner at BJ's Brew House --- 5:30 - 7:30
--Return to Hotel
--Sunday 8:00am at the pool (or later if not swimming the 800)
--Swim events and the RELAYS! until 1:00 p.m.
--Leave to drive home approximately 2:00

The suggested coaching fee per swimmer is $20 monthly.
If this is a hardship, the suggestion is to pay what you can between
$10-$20. Most importantly we do not want any swimmer to be left out, so
pay what you can.

payments.
