Team K-Man News 7/16/10

SWIM - Mark G reports, "Penny L, Ellen R, Jen G, and Mark G had a great time at the Pacific Masters Swim Meet in Santa Cruz last weekend. The meet was a full three days and we stayed in the dorms at UC Santa Cruz which was a lot of fun. Our dorm mates were from Mount TAM Masters and included multiple world record holder Laura Val, and two swimmers that swam with Doc Counsilman in the 60's. In the evening we enjoyed kruising downtown Santa Cruz and Capitola.

Team Kman swimmers did very well and enjoyed Personal Best Times for all, or many, of their events. Ellen Rockholm took first in every event she entered and the meet was an excellent warm up for her World Championships in Sweden next month."

BIKE - We will meet at 8:00 a.m. the K-Man Cycle and Run shop in Atascadero. We will go south on El Camino Real toViejo Camino, left on Santa Barbara, around past Grandpa’s Pond and left to Sandoval Road, where we turn right and head back to El Camino Real. There we turn left and go south to Highway 58, where we turn left. We will take 58 to Highway 229, where we turn left again. In Creston there will be a regrouping stop at the store. From there we will head north on 229 to Highway 41, where we turn right. Then we turn left on Creston Road, and right on Geneseo Road. We will follow Geneseo into Linne and continue straight on Linne into Paso Robles. We will go right on River Road then left on 13th Street to Amsterdam’s coffee shop, where we will stop for refreshments. We can all then decide for ourselves how to return to Atascadero on what promises to be a hot day.

Mark G reports, "Here is a video clip of Lance Armstrong's crash in Stage 8. Lance clipped the ground with his pedal while rounding a roundabout and slide on his back about 40 feet. In the clip Lance is in the distance and the fall happens right at the beginning of the video."
